How do you feel about your life right now? What, if anything, would you like to change?
Life in Apple Station, Virginia, is good right now. I’m looking forward to the holidays, and perhaps the season’s spirit will spark a new romance. I can’t deny that I’m interested in someone, and I wouldn’t mind testing the waters to see if what I feel is mutual. Over the past month, we’ve met up for coffee several times at Jillian’s Cafe. I didn’t know him before moving back home, but we’ve grown close through some unique circumstances. After the New Year, I’ll be assessing my long-term career goals. Though I like what I do now as an advice columnist, perhaps it’s time for a change.
What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Without a doubt, that would be my mom’s passing. I was in my twenties and had just begun my first job at a regional newspaper. Though she had been sick for a short while, you can never fully prepare yourself to lose a parent. I found that the grief never gets better, but I’ve become better over time. Losing her made me even more determined not to put off experiencing life and pursuing my dreams.
